The Happy Valley

Man it was great meeting old friends. Been meeting up with so many old friends since I got back and it didn't even matter if I was ever close to them or not. C'mon... who would've thought I'd be hanging around with Tim right now. We've never even chatted in high school! The occasional hi-bye but that's just it for us. But now, every night - without miss - the conversation starts with...

"Khi talok~"
So where are we headed?

"Lu kong lah..."
You may decide...

"Cibai, tiam tiam wa sior meh???"
What the deuce? Why is it always me who has to come up with such decisions?

"Cha meh wa kao tim, ki meh kao lu kong..."
The previous night, I took responsibility of the decision. And tonight, it shall be your turn
.
"Mah ku"
Dick.

And hopefully we don't end up in Bing like the previous few nights, or else the next night's conversation will begin with an exclamation...
.
"MAH KU MAI KHI BING LIAO AH~!!"
I can't decide where to go and so I shall blame the one who helps me decide.

Hehe...

Back to talking about meeting up with old friends...

Another friend that I haven't met in a long time despite the fact that we were only an area code away in UK - Amy Chang - one of the 4 friends who share the same surname (but not the same blood cause apparently you can pronounce "Chang" in so many other dialects).

She was in Preston...

and
I was in Glasgow...

I've been to Preston... but it was only a 30 minutes stop on the way to Manchester.

Oh well... we're in kuching now and as if we haven't got enough of the weather in UK, we delibrately froze our asses off in the Ice Bar in DP (the Ice Bar is a small room with a mini-bar and it is maintained at fucking low temperature).

Add a 5 feet fan with propellar blades at the side of the room and you'll have a winter time in UK.

And so Preston finally met Glasgow

... in Kuching.

This next petite individual I haven't heard from her in 7 years! That's three years from a decade! Despite the long time that we haven't met, I'm pretty glad to say that she is still the chatty ol' nette that I knew years ago... (her words are not as petite as her size) although... her usual cliques are no longer the same. Did a lotta catching up although I do feel that we're not quite done with that (oh by the way, anybody wants to apply for Prudential insurance?)Nevertheless, her company that night was splendid. Met her in Amoebar, and hit Mojo after that and met up with the other Chang.

Nice to see you again, Nette...
P/s: Can you pass me the pictures in your digicam the next time we meet?

Ok so nevermind the meet-up with old friends. Made a lotta friends during our many nightly routine around Kuching... plus, I don't choose my friends, so naturally I'll remember them as a friend.

Although, remembering their names is whole other tricky game.

These bunch we met in a restaurant called Happy Valley (the name of the restaurant sounds like another sequel to Sesame Street).

Pictures courtesy of Rose. SONY isn't very efficient with it's flash.

...and since names are tricky, I shall save myself the embarrasement and NOT publish their names.

Except Tomato Boon, Lu Tong, Longjohn and Loshie.

15% of the night were food and drinks, the other 85% were chatting. The ladies had their corner, and the men had our corner. Had no idea what the ladies were talking about (most probably about the latest gossip and shoes) while the men were exchanging supernatural experiences, in the spirit of the seventh month (hey look, a pun!) Eventually we ended at around midnight; most of them went home, while 8 of us went to visit our good friend Ronald McDonald.

Gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip... gossip...

(That conversation has been brought to you by the ladies)

End time: 2:45 am
.

AmyChang, Annette, Adeline, Kelly, Ally, Dorothy, Donna, Tiong, Alex, and Amy's-three-other-friends-whose-name-I've-forgotten...

It was great meeting all of you.

Keep in touch guys...!
